Philip Jay Bierman graduated from Central High in 1973. He received his undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. He completed an internal medicine residency and an oncology fellowship at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. He also completed a hematology fellowship at the City of Hope National Medical Center in Duarte, Calif. He lives in Omaha, NE.

Philip is a member of the bone marrow transplant team at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. He is also an associate professor of medicine in oncology and hematology and director of the oncology fellowship program, overseeing the training of young oncologists. He is board certified in internal medicine, oncology and hematology.

His research focuses on lymphoma, autologous transplantation and allogenic transplantation. Philip has co-authored more than 120 research papers and contributed to more than 35 books on oncology, hematology and marrow and stem cell transplantation. Widely recognized by his peers, Philip has been an invited presenter at hundreds of national and international symposia. Through his papers, presentations and training, Philip has shared his knowledge with doctors worldwide, touching the lives of patients across the globe.

Philip serves as a reviewer for numerous research journals including Clinical Lymphoma, Journal of Clinical Oncology, Annals of Internal Medicine and Blood and Leukemia. He is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the American Society for Blood & Marrow Transplantation, the American Association for Advancement of Science and other organizations.
